Graduates Association Ball 2007
The 2nd Graduates Association Ball - 9th November 2007 at the Tower Hotel, Tallaght.
From quirky barber-shop quartets to kick-ass bands and great food and drink, the big one had everything and was thoroughly enjoyed by all present. We'll be posting some photos up here. Due to legalities (booo!) its difficult to publish them all - so if you want to find photos of you that we can send on just drop me an email at gradassociation (at) ittdublin (dot) ie and I can send them right on.
After our launch in Jurys Hotel in 2005, this night on the 9th November 2007 had a lot to live up to and people were not disappointed. Greeted by a beautifully decorated reception area on the Mezzanine level of the hotel, guests emerged from the lifts to be treated to a champagne reception and the warmly received barbershop shop quartet which added a fun, original feel to the beginning of the night.

As the ice was broken and the stragglers arrived after struggling through Friday evening traffic, guests were ushered in to the main Ballroom which was stunningly presented with balloons, multi-media presentations and various treats on the tables to keep those with a sweet tooth happy. Many thanks to our main sponsor Accenture Technology Solutions for their generous contribution towards the night which put the icing on the cake in many respects. As food was ordered, speeches followed from The Graduates Association Officer, Gareth Ebbs and President of ITT Dublin, Dr Tim Creedon.

Dinner was served and tongues loosened as many enjoyed an excellent meal served by a courteous and helpful Tower Hotel staff. As many ventured dessert and others took the safe coffee option, the Chairman of the Association, Dr Mark Glynn, spoke and then announced the winners of the draw prizes which included a weekend for two in a Tower Hotel, two Nivea hampers and a Nintendo DS system sponsored by Accenture Technology Solutions.

It was then the band Revenge took to the stage and the night really came to life. With fantastic musicianship and boundless energy, (the lead singer quite often spent more time in the audience than on stage during some songs), they had the dance-floor full within two songs and it remained that way until after midnight when they wound up a enthralling set of hits new and old. It was fantastic to see graduates and staff so entertained and great to see some of the more 'senior' members still have the moves - long may it last!

With the departure of the band, a DJ brought the occasion to a close with great tunes into the wee hours. Some headed for taxis, while many headed for the residents bar but everyone had one thing in common and that was a thoroughly entertaining evening in good company. Sincere thanks to our main sponsor Accenture Technology Solutions and to the Tower Hotel and their staff for facilitating a cracking night and a memorable occasion.
